Five Element Acupuncture
Five Element Acupuncture is a holistic practice that applies the laws of nature to the diagnosis and treatment of the underlying causes of disease, rather than just the symptoms. Lanelle Durst, L.Ac, treats the patient as a whole, considering the connection of the body, mind and spirit in relation to the laws of nature and environmental influences. The basic goal is to treat the underlying cause of imbalance at its root. When balance is restored, the natural healing abilities of the person are activated and the symptoms of illness will resolve themselves. This results in a profound level of healing and a sense of well-being where, not only do the physical symptoms resolve, but mental clarity and emotional stability are attained.

Nutrition Response Testing
Nutrition Response Testing is a non-invasive system of analyzing the body in order to determine the underlying causes of poor health. When these are corrected through safe, natural, nutritional means the body can repair itself in order to attain and maintain more optimal health.
Nutrition Response Testing analyzes different areas on the surface of the body that relate to the state of health of every organ and area of the body. It uses the body’s nervous system to identify areas that are not functioning at optimal levels through a form of applied kinesiology, commonly known as muscle testing. Based on our findings, we will recommend specific whole-food supplements and/or herbs, and possibly also dietary and lifestyle changes. It is painless and results in a personalized health improvement program that addresses your body s imbalances and corrects its operation.
We added Nutrition Response Testing to our services after finding that even the best acupuncture care couldn’t help some clients with all of their issues. If someone is nutritionally deficient or has underlying stressors (such as heavy metals, chemicals, immune challenges, food sensitivities or scars) that aren’t addressed, they will likely have stubborn symptoms that can’t be helped with acupuncture alone. This modality helps us identify which organs or areas aren’t functioning optimally. We then find the exact whole food supplements needed for the body to repair itself. Nutrition response testing works well in combination with acupuncture, or even alone, for those afraid of needles.
On Point Wellness: Glossary of Services
Acupuncture
An effective form of holistic health care where very fine sterile needles are inserted into the skin at specific anatomical locations (acupoints) on the body. It promotes the body’s natural healing capabilities for a wide variety of medical problems.
Acupuncture
A massage technique that stimulates acupuncture points on the body to stimulate the body’s natural healing capabilities.
Moxibustion
The application of heat to acupuncture points by burning an herb called Mugwort. It quickens the healing process and has a warming and relaxing effect.
Cupping
A therapy where small glass cups are placed over specific areas of your body and a vacuum is created under the cups using heat. The cups might be moved over an affected area or left in place. It is used for many ailments including sore muscles, tension, pain and the common cold.
Nutritional counseling
We believe a healthy balanced whole food diet is one of the most important aspects of maintaining good health. The digestive system is an integral part of the immune system and plays a significant role in your sense of well being.
Herbal and whole food supplements
Chinese herbal medicine addresses the underlying causes of illness and rarely causes unwanted side effects. We only prescribe Chinese Herbal medicines which have been produced and tested by reputable Western companies. These herbal formulas come in several forms including capsules, tablets and liquid tinctures.
